The scene from Game of Throne that Emilia Clarke completely improvised
Game of Thrones star actress Emilia Clarke has revealed that she improvised an entire monologue in a made-up language while filming the fifth season.
Director Jeremy Podeswa explained the process to Entertainment Weekly, saying that Clarke did "an amazing job" with a scene in which her character Daenerys Targaryen speaks in the fictional language of Valyrian, ordering an execution.
"Usually there's a lot of preparation for that kind of thing and a lot of thought about it and she had a pretty big monologue before she set the guy on fire," Podeswa explained, saying the scene was filmed in English for the first time. takes before showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss suggested that it be remade into Valyrian.
He added, "I went to Emilia and said, 'I know this is a very important question, but do you think you could find a way to do this in Valyrian?' She said, 'Yeah sure, I think I can do this.' And I say, "Really?"
“Then she went off and improvised things that [Daenerys] had said in the past that made sense. She came back in 10 minutes and had this whole monologue written."
